The Pistil lamp is a singular creation inspired by the acanthus mollis flower, from which it takes its name. Its sinuous form echoes the flower’s internal pistil, a motif long associated with southern Mediterranean landscapes. Cast in gold, the lamp evokes pollen, the very essence of life and regeneration, just as its warm light brings spaces to life.
The interplay of solid and void, material and transparency, symbolizes purity and the natural flow of existence, forging a deep connection with the world’s elements. In its seamless blend of form and meaning, the Pistil lamp celebrates the true richness of life itself.
This lamp embodies the spirit of the artistic movement that emerged around 1900 across much of Europe, known variously by different national names: Stile Liberty in Italy, Modern Style or Studio Style in Great Britain, Art Nouveau in France, Style Sapin in Switzerland, Jugendstil in Germany, and other regional variants elsewhere.
The term “Art Nouveau” was first coined by Edmond Picard in 1894 in the Belgian magazine L’Art Moderne. This interdisciplinary style influenced architecture, interior and exterior decoration, jewelry, furniture, textiles, tableware, lighting, and countless other art forms.
The lamp’s form is defined by the flower’s hollow core, where the interplay of negative space and glass brings this concept to life. In art, emptiness itself carries meaning, serving as both a reminder and a canvas for what we value most.
The filament LED bulb in retro style recalls the classic design of incandescent bulbs, yet with a modern twist. The switch, inspired by vintage ceramic models, features shapes that harmonize with the lamp’s design. The electric cable is covered in braided silk. All these details contribute to the lamp’s elegance and quality.
